Community Resiliency

Addressing urgent needs today for a better tomorrow.

United Way believes every community deserves to prosper. We work with our neighbors to build resilient communities that are more connected, supportive and ready to respond to any challenge.

We’re strengthening the foundations of communities for a more sustainable and secure future.

Crisis Hotline and Support

United Way supports 211, a free, 24/7 hotline that connects people to locally available resources. Some 2,000 caring experts across North America field 42,000 calls a day in 180+ languages. 211 is a lifeline during crises and it helps make life better for the communities we serve.

Around the world, United Way mobilizes quickly to support communities experiencing crises —both natural disasters like wildfires and floods, and manmade crises including mass shootings and armed conflict. We raise money for immediate relief, as well as for recovery and rebuilding. We also manage volunteers, provide direct services and support partners on the ground.

We work closely with neighbors, partners and government entities to foster environmental sustainability and create resilience in the face of climate change. We’ve partnered with organizations to restore mangroves and coral reefs. And we're working to help communities conserve natural resources and ecosystems to protect against natural disasters and strengthen local economies.
