Lantern (Text Support for Parents & Caregivers)
United Way of Wisconsin and United Way St. Croix & Red Cedar Valleys are proud to be a partner for Lantern, a text subscription service that provides resources to parents from pregnancy through age eight.
Lantern (formerly Bright by Text) is a nationwide service that delivers free tips, information, games, and resources to help parents and caregivers make the most of everyday interactions. It supports nurturing relationships, strengthens families, promotes healthy child development, and improves school readiness. After signing up, parents receive messages on pregnancy, milestones, learning, health, safety, wellness, and more, as well as local updates about resources and events tailored to their child's age.
Lantern's mission is to light the way for families by ensuring that parents and caregivers have access to trusted resources to nurture their child's development. Partnering with pediatricians, researchers, and expert early childhood organizations, Lantern develops evidence-based content that helps families feel more confident and connected every day.
MyFreeTaxes
United Way is providing online tax filing software, accessible through MyFreeTaxes.com, to help taxpayers easily and accurately file their taxes from their computer or smartphone. MyFreeTaxes® is a free way to file simple federal and state tax returns.
The tool screens for credits and deductions such as Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit to ensure filers receive their maximum refund and checks for any missed stimulus payments. Users can see in real time how and why their refund amount is changing. MyFreeTaxes can be used on a phone, tablet, or computer, and includes access to a Helpline staffed by IRS-trained specialists from 10 AM-10 PM EST daily.

FreeWill
United Way has partnered with FreeWill to provide an accessible way for individuals and families to plan for the future. FreeWill offers a free, intuitive platform to create a legally valid will online. This tool can be used to complete a full legal will or to begin planning before meeting with an attorney.
Including a gift to United Way through FreeWill is a meaningful way to support the education, financial stability, health, and basic needs of our community for generations to come. The tool is free to use whether or not you choose to include a charitable gift.

SingleCare Prescription Discount Card
The free SingleCare prescription savings card provides discounts on prescription medications. It is free for anyone, regardless of insurance coverage, requires no registration, covers all FDA-approved medications, and can be used as often as needed.

To get your discount, you can download and print a card, text family to 700700 to receive one on your phone or download the SingleCare app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
